About The Role

Join Our Team as a Cloud Delivery Engineer!
 
 Are you a skilled Cloud Delivery Engineer with a passion for cutting-edge infrastructure and automation? We’re looking for someone with hands-on experience in VMware and Azure cloud environments, who can confidently manage platforms like Microsoft 365 and drive efficiency through Infrastructure as Code (IaC). This is a fantastic opportunity to join a forward-thinking team where your technical expertise will help shape scalable, secure, and innovative cloud solutions.
We work in a hybrid way, with a requirement to travel into our Walsall office at least twice a week to work with the team. With that in mind you will be located within a convenient commute to Walsall.
 
You will be responsible for the end-to-end delivery of multiple cloud projects and migrations, transitioning on-premises workloads to the Cloud within large-scale business and IT programmes. Collaborating with the wider IT team, you will ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards, while adhering to both IT and business governance frameworks.
 
Your role will also involve day-to-day management of cloud infrastructure, including planning, designing, and developing cloud-based solutions. You will oversee cloud environments in line with company policies and ensure secure, scalable, and efficient deployments. Additionally, you will be responsible for deploying, troubleshooting, and optimising cloud services in line with best practices throughout the development lifecycle.
 
PRINCIPLE ACCOUNTABILITIES
 
Manage Cloud Infrastructure
  • Design, deploy, and manage cloud infrastructure across hybrid environments, ensuring scalability, resilience, and cost-efficiency.
  • Implement automated security controls and access policies using scripting, CI/CD pipelines, and native cloud tools.
  • Develop and maintain disaster recovery and business continuity solutions, leveraging automation for failover and backup validation.
  • Configure and manage automated network and application security scanning tools, integrating with Power Platform where applicable.
  • Ensure platform governance and compliance through policy enforcement, tagging standards, and automated reporting.
  • Conduct routine health checks using monitoring tools and dashboards, covering system performance, storage, and network fabrics.
  •  Maintain highly available infrastructure for virtual machines and containers, including automated patching, configuration drift management, and performance tuning.
  • Support cloud migration initiatives, assessing legacy platforms and designing future-state architectures with automation-first principles.
  • Contribute to cloud strategy and technology direction, enabling adoption of Azure/AWS services and Power Platform capabilities.
  • Optimise infrastructure performance through automated resource scaling, performance tuning, and hardware lifecycle management.
  • Support IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS environments, ensuring high availability and integrating with Power Apps for operational workflows and self-service tooling.
Relationship Management
  •  Develop and maintain effective relationships with the business project manager and business team
  •  Engage and build relationships with the QA, development and BA managers who will be required to support and deliver the project
  •  Engage and build relationships with the various business stakeholders to ensure the appropriate input and support is in place for the project.
  •  Co-ordinate and liaise with 3rd parties where appropriate for the delivery and co-ordination of the IT technical tasks
  •  Engage and build relationships within the IT team.
Financial Control
  • Assist with provision and reporting and managing FinOps of IT estimates and IT budgets, including change control.
  • Work with Cloud Platform team to ensure gateway governance is adhered to for the identification and release of funding in line with the agreed IT budget.
Cloud Management Practice
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with colleagues to provide support and knowledge transfer
  • Conduct peer reviews of project documentation and new services
  • Define and support improvements to the working practices within IT by contributing to initiatives
Portfolio Support
  • Mentoring Junior cloud engineers
  • On boarding and mentoring new starters
  • Deputising as appropriate
  • Support project quality checks
  • Support the mobilisation / shaping of IT infrastructure
 
 

About You

To be successful in this role you will need to have the following knowledge, skills and attributes:
 
Essential
  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate (AZ-104) or higher
  • Knowledge of cloud management
  • Knowledge of IT systems and architectures
  • Good understanding of DevOps practices
  • Experience in managing private and public cloud delivery
  • Experience with Cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure or AWS
  • Experience in delivering multiple portfolios of projects.
  • Influential and articulate presentational skills.
  • Good communication skills
  • Able to convert technical jargon to a business audience.
Desirable
  • Financial Services industry experience (insurance) preferable
  • Experience of managing other project managers to achieve delivery of projects
